Gas Meter Policies

Our goal is to keep both customers and employees safe while continuing reliable service. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe work environment.

Questions?
Please feel free to call the office Monday – Thursday 9 AM to 4 PM at 225-667-8273 or email [email protected]

Meters that have been reported as inaccessible by O & M Management Services personnel will be addressed in the following manor:

If a bush or shrub is blocking access to a gas meter, we will attempt to trim it if possible. If the obstruction requires more than a simple trim, a notice will be sent to the customer via certified mail.

If debris is blocking the meter, a note may be left on the customer’s door advising them to “Please remove the debris.”

In cases involving an aggressive dog, we will attempt to contact the customer by phone to inform them of the issue. A follow-up letter will also be mailed outlining our policies regarding aggressive dogs.

AGGRESSIVE DOGS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
Our technicians carry dog mace in their vehicles and will use it if necessary to protect themselves.

Meters and valves located inside fenced areas must be accessible at all times. If access is blocked due to a locked gate, broken latch, or similar issue, we will contact the customer by phone, mail, or email to resolve the situation.

After customer contact regarding any accessibility issue, if a return visit finds that no corrective action has been taken, O & M Management Services will send a certified letter notifying the customer that they have 30 days to contact Livingston Parish GUD #1 / O & M Management Services with a plan of action.
If the customer does not respond or comply within 30 days, gas service may be discontinued until a resolution or agreement is reached.

DO NOT REMOVE VALVE SIGNS.
Valve signs are critical for locating valves quickly during emergencies.
